I have posted hundreds of Facebook Marketplace listings for Box Busters, my moving company in Ottawa. Some generated 20+ inquiries. Others got nothing. The difference was almost never the service — it was how I wrote the listing.
After months of testing, I have identified the patterns that consistently produce the most messages. I turned those patterns into templates that I use every day. And now I am sharing them.
These are fill-in-the-blank templates you can customize for your service business in under 5 minutes. I have organized them by service type, but the underlying structure works for any local service.
The Anatomy of a High-Converting Marketplace Listing
Before I give you the templates, let me break down why they work. Every high-performing listing I have posted follows this structure:
Title: Specific service + location or urgency signal. Not "Moving Services" but "Small Apartment Move — Downtown Ottawa — This Weekend." Specific titles attract specific buyers who are ready to act.
Price: A real starting number, not $0 and not your maximum price. $149 is approachable. $1,500 scares people away even if that is what a full house move costs. Start low, explain the range in the description.
Photo: Real work, real equipment, your actual truck or team. Not stock photos. The first photo is the one people see in the feed — make it count.
Description structure:
- Opening hook (what you do and who it is for)
- What is included
- Price range and what affects it
- Social proof or credibility
- Call to action
That is the framework. Now here are the templates.

How to Customize These Templates
These templates are starting points. To make them work for your specific business, you need to customize three things.
Localize everything. Replace [City] and [Neighborhood] with your actual service area. Mention specific landmarks, areas, or streets that people in your market recognize. "Serving Kanata, Barrhaven, and Orleans" is better than "Serving the Ottawa area" because it tells people in those specific neighborhoods that you work in their zone.
Add your specific differentiators. What makes you different from the other ten listings for the same service? Maybe you offer same-day service. Maybe you have been doing this for 15 years. Maybe you are the only one who includes cleanup in your price. Whatever it is, add it to the description.
Update pricing regularly. Your prices should reflect your current market and your current demand level. If you are booked solid, raise your prices. If inquiries have slowed, consider adjusting. The templates use starting prices — make sure yours are competitive for your market. I wrote an entire guide on Marketplace pricing strategy if you want to dig deeper.
Title Variations That Get More Views
One trick I use is rotating through different title styles for the same service. This prevents your listings from looking like duplicates and captures different search queries.
For a moving service, I might rotate through:
- "Small Move — 1 Bedroom — Available This Saturday"
- "Need Help Moving? Truck and Crew Ready — [City]"
- "Affordable Apartment Moving — [Neighborhood] Area"
- "Professional Mover — Careful With Your Stuff — Free Quote"
- "Moving This Weekend? I Can Help — [City]"
Same service, different angles. Each title targets a slightly different mindset or search query. I typically maintain 5 to 8 title variations for each service type and cycle through them as I repost.
For more on why title variation matters and how the algorithm handles it, check out my Marketplace SEO guide.
How Many Templates Do You Need?
For most service businesses, you want 3 to 5 listing templates per service type. If you offer two services (say moving and junk removal), that is 6 to 10 templates total.
Each template targets a different customer or situation:
- The budget-conscious customer (emphasize affordable pricing)
- The urgent customer (emphasize availability and speed)
- The quality-focused customer (emphasize care, professionalism, reviews)
- The specific-need customer (emphasize a particular sub-service)
- The geographic customer (emphasize a particular neighborhood)
With 10 templates and 5 to 8 title variations per template, you have 50 to 80 unique listings you can cycle through. That is enough variety to maintain heavy posting volume without triggering duplicate content flags from Facebook.
The templates in this post are designed to be mixed and matched. Take the structure, adapt it to your service, and add your personal touch. The businesses that perform best on Marketplace are the ones whose listings sound like a real person wrote them — because a real person did.
If posting this volume manually feels overwhelming, that is normal. It is a lot of work. That is exactly the operational bottleneck that tools like Listaro were built to solve — letting you maintain high posting volume without spending hours every day on listing management. But even if you post manually, these templates will save you significant time and dramatically improve your results compared to writing every listing from scratch.
